So whether you decide to build a bandsaw or something else with the things you have collecting dust in your shop, dont throw them away when spring cleaning time comes, you may just need them later when you think of something that you want or need, but dont want to pay the price commercially. A couple of other things I made with things just laying around in my shop was a utility trailer and a small overhead hoist, which enabled me to lift heavy things such as my rototiller and sprayer up to the top level of my shop.
10 Advantages To Having A Bandsaw In Your Shop - There are many advantages to having a shop that has a bandsaw in it, whether its a homemade bandsaw, which is what I have, or a commercial bandsaw. After I made my bandsaw with mostly things I had sitting around my shop, I was able to do several things that I could not do before without a bandsaw. I will share the top ten reasons I believe having a bandsaw has given me more opportunity in my woodworking hobby than I had before.
Task lighting - Task lighting gives you the light you need right where you need it. Work lights make a convenient task light. They come in different models and wattages. Typically the compact fluorescent light bulb is either 10 or 13 watts. Most all of the models have a hook to hang them up by. The amount of light is fixed and cannot be increased without purchasing a new work light. Clamp on reflectors are very effective task light. Use compact fluorescent light bulb in the clamp on reflector. You can use bulbs ranging from thirteen watts to twenty four watts. This yields an illumination from sixty watts to one hundred fifty watts, with very little heat from the bulb. Workshop lighting is an integral part of the overall plan of laying out a woodworking shop. Depending on the space for the workshop there are different things to consider and keep in mind when laying out the lighting. The most important thing to keep in mind is to not create shadows on the work surfaces of the tools.
